Found Metaplace via a chat on Metaverse. My first world:

It made me think of a cross between Lively/New Lively and Gaia Online, but done properly. I can can actually find and return to the places I create, and uploading images from your own computer, and importing 3D objects from Sketchup's 3D warehouse is easy. It has the usual economy and (for once) you can make and sell your own stuff. You can also create and play in games and other activities.

And I should mention (before I get the inevitable posts of "it'll never replace SL") this seems geared towards users with low technical expertise. Nothing is installed on your PC - it's all online. Scripting (such as it is) consists of selecting the actions on a menu, and inputting relevant data (like image URLs). I love SL, but enjoy looking at other systems as well (and this will turn up in my web comic).

(I can't tell if people with existing gender specification will be defaulted to "nobody can see it" or "everybody can see it".) (Subsequent changelog reading indicates that the public specificity has since been removed. It is unknown whether this is to require public specificity in the future or if it will remain private.)

* LiveJournal is removing the Unspecified option for the gender field. That's right: you get to be male or female. Period. That's it. (Source.)

If this pisses you off as much as it pisses me off, go to Edit Profile and select Unspecified for your gender option. Then, go to http://www.livejournal.com/contact/?dept=feedback and politely register your displeasure. (The people who read and process Feedback are not the people who make the decisions. I have finally gotten through all my overtime at work and owed artwork and commissions....and....

I AM WORKING ON AVATARS AGAIN!!! :D

I just came out with my new Mycena avatars!! They are in the vendors now in all my locations!!!

They are sculpted full prim avatars and they come in 7 colors.
The avatars have night glow and day skins and come with cute little santa hats in time for the holidays. :3

Currently I am working on the next avatar already. They are Day Geckos! (Yes, same species as Gex and the Geico Gecko.)

It may come out massively different in Second Life. I am trying to do sculpted eyes on this one. The geckos have prim lids in SL but they're using a rotate script (like the Tokushi Fnuff, and the script was actually written by my buddy Racush of Tokushi.)

As a Prim Perfect staff writer, I am very pleased to announce the publication of our Christmas 2009 issue. Personally, this is my second favorite issue ever (the Halloween issue last month still rates as my personal fave.) Winter on Wolf Mountain... with a side trip via motorcycle to Route 66. It's all here, in droves. Anyone else having MASSIVE inventory failure when they log on? I'm getting "can't find in inventory" or Unable to create item" on a ton of crap, including things I am wearing!

I am using emerald but when I checked it with the normal SL viewer the same thing happened. I am in a panic now! Help!

Yes I've cleared cache. both by the button on the viwer and by just going in and deleting it right off the HD.

Reworking Chicahuac again, due to some resident losses. The RL economy and some SL divorces have impacted residency rate, but have also enabled us to offer 1/4 of a full-prim sim for sale. 16,384 sq. m, 3750 prims located on an established island-themed class V sim. The parcel is located at the north-west corner of the sim. You do not need to be a premium member to own land at Chicahuac.

Terraforming withing reason (keep to the island theme, please) and complete control of the media stream and access list.

Perfect for a large home, shopping area or whatever you can think of, the land is for sale at L$ 1. Tier is L$ 5575 per week, payable at the Welcome Center.

No clubs are allowed on this 1/4 sim parcel. Sapphire Moon, a club and discussion group, is located on the opposite corner of the sim.

1) awesome bike is awesome.

2) i am not quite *g* in awesome bike-riding shape yet. but awesome bike WANTS me to ride it, therefore, all physical exercise/chores/etc. from now on go toward that end.

3) thus: vacuuming walls and ceiling and rug in room today. stripping bed and remaking completely. re-hanging corkboards that had fallen down because their wires came undone. all these things i can do again because my arm is healed. *G* yay!

4) also: have been thinking about "healthcare/health insurance/health access/health responsibility" debate in terms of a) women's health, specifically conception/contraception/pregnancy/birth/women's diseases/women's surgeries/women's aging/women's end-of-life care and b) the on-going conversation of the last three hundred or four hundred years (in Western, European history, as I understand it- YMMV of course, and I am in no way an expert in any facet of this) about 1) how does one know a "good man/person" (what identifies someone as "good" vs. "bad")? 2) are women people? 3) are children people?

5) busy mind is busy.

Do you think I can find it now? I thought it was Hobo Island, but the Hobo Island that's there now is very very different. Such is Second Life.

While I was off injured from work I had a little time to surf the net, check in on things that interest me.

One is a blog called Inhabitat: education, youth, design, sustainability. I entered a comment about Jane Jacobs (whose work I love) in a "Meet the Editors" contest, went to the webinar, and : won the prize drawing.

Gorgeous.

Am going to pick it up today.

So excited, so nervous. When I was 18, 20, even 30, this would have made perfect sense to me: young, energetic, lively. But now? Am I too fat? too old? is this going to be a waste? No.

Now it makes even more sense. I need to be in shape, to feel healthy and able. I was always good with a bicycle; my bones are strong even though my muscles have gotten a bit weak. I'm looking forward to this so much.

The Japanese shop Mingo! Is going out of business this weekend. They have many cute things up for 10L or free.
I am a huge softie and had to go over and spend the last of my L in the hopes that every little bit helps. It certainly doesn't hurt that the items are really cute, I especially love the hair.
